Gulfbreeze Retrievers is located in Magnolia, Texas, very close to the Gulf of Mexico. We have been involved in the world of dog sports since 2002 when we purchased our first golden retriever Buzz. Sugar and B.B. came along a couple of years later and we were hooked. In 2004 a friend of mine bought a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. Needless to say we were very intrigued. In 2005 we purchased our first Toller, KD’s Hot Hot Hot. Sparky was our first chanpion. He was also our first dog trained for field work as well as the first dog we showed in obedience. Our experiences with Sparky convinced us that Tollers are the breed for us and in 2008 we had our first litter of Toller pups.
As breeders of these wonderful dogs our goal is to produce healthy dogs that are physically sound, free of genetic diseases, have a natural affinity for field work and have sound temperaments. Our dogs are screened for hip and elbow dysplasia, genetic heart diseases and genetic eye diseases. Additionally our dogs are DNA tested for Progressive Eye Anamoly, Cardiac Laminopathy, Cerebellar Degeneration- Myositis Complex, Chondrodystrophy, Cleft Lip/Palate and Syndactyly, Degenerative Myelopathy, Juvenile Addision’s disease, Collie Eye Anamoly and Degenerative Encephalopathy.
